Samuel P. Davis
I was born and raised on the South Side and South Suburbs of Chicago. My mother worked days as a school teacher and nights as a postal worker until my stepfather, who was also a teacher, came into our home, allowing her to focus solely on her teaching career. My father and stepmother also taught and my stepmother remains a teacher in the Chicago Public Schools to this day.
As a child I remember marching on a picket line with my mother and her fellow teachers striking to improve their work conditions. That experience will always be at the root of my belief in the power of collective bargaining. Growing up I ran into a number of stumbling blocks; some that were placed in front of me and some of my own creation, but I always managed to learn from my mistakes. The older I got and the more I ventured outside of my neighborhood, the more my world grew, the more I realized just how important education and the experiences a good education could afford me really were. At some point I realized that education equaled freedom.
I attended Western Illinois University where I received my B.A. in Political Science in 1997. I then moved to New York City where I worked as a full-time substitute high school teacher for the New York City Public School System. In 1999 I moved to Buffalo to attend Law School at the University at Buffalo. Having established a series of meaningful personal and professional relationships while in law school, I discovered that Buffalo was, in fact, home.
All throughout my academic career I consistently had mentors, older family members, and a series of valued professionals who did all they could for me including offering inspiration and guidance and even opening a few doors for me along the way. I am forever grateful to those individuals and am dedicated to doing all that I can to improve the lives of the next generation. It saddens me that so many young people need legal representation but I am happy to be able to provide it to them. I currently focus my legal career on criminal matters, family law, and personal injury. If you or anybody you know is in need of legal help please do not hesitate to contact me.
